Excellent do-it-all projector
I picked up this projector with the aim of coupling it to a PS3 for gaming and the occasional DVD. This unit lands in a nice sweet spot for value, boasting 1024x768 for around $500. The reviews here were generally excellent, and after using it for a month I can happily back them up. The projector is quiet (especially in low power mode) and has a broad focal range, allowing you to go from close-up, short-throw presentations to wall-spanning video in seconds. Setup is simple, and the keystone adjustment is wide enough to offer a lot of flexibility in the positioning of the projector.
In high-power mode against a white wall at ten feet the highlights are blinding. This unit throws out an impressive amount of light, and it can be used in a lit room without losing a lot of detail. I always run it at low power. Not only is it easier on the eyes in a dark room, but the fan noise and heat output drop noticeably. It also theoretically extends lamp life by about 1,000 hours, though I haven't had it long enough to test that claim.
The sound quality from the built-in speakers is good and serviceable. They can't be fairly compared to external, dedicated speakers but even so I was impressed with the volume and clarity.
One thing I very much enjoy about this projector is its versatility: with SVGA, S-Video and composite inputs, a monitor pass-through, fast warm-up and cool-down times, a broad focal range, an integrated lens cover and a handy carry bag this projector can be set up quickly to cover a variety of situations.
The only nit to be picked with this unit is, as other reviewers have noted, the remote. It's a generic-looking box, crammed with little buttons and difficult to use in the dark. Fortunately, unless you move your projector around a lot the only button you're likely to use regularly is the power button, which is easily found in the top-left corner.
Overall, if you're looking for an all-in-one solution for handling a wide variety of applications, or are looking for an inexpensive home-theater setup, the 77C is a great option.
very happy with product
Great value. I have used this product for different functions, presentations, home theatre, computer, games. It has performed great. priced right. I have used other more expensive units and I prefer this unit instead. You wont be disappointed.
great product
We purchased this to show outdoor movies in our backyard. For the money, this is a super product. I had debated about buying a more expensive model, but thank goodness it was out of stock, because for the money, I feel like it is great for our purpose. The only thing that I miss on it are built in speakers.
